"Hi Mom," I greet into the phone, refreshed from a great night's sleep.

Rocky waves happily at Grandma on the screen as we sit in the kitchen, having just finished breakfast.

"How's my favorite grandson?" she grins, Dad appearing in the background.

"Another beautiful day here in paradise, Sierra. Ready to move back in with your parents?"

I laugh, Dad's question under serious consideration after Blade's obnoxious upsetting visit.

"We'd like to at least visit. How long's the drive?"

"Four hours, you can be here for happy hour."

The joy between my Mom and Rocky warms my heart. I'm feeling well enough for a quick trip, craving a calm loving family environment. An online degree is available from anywhere, the service skills applicable in almost any industry.

"Alright. We'll leave in an hour. Anything you need me to bring from the house?"

Mom chimes in, Dad assuming grandparenting duties.

"The glass vase in the living room. Rocky will love collecting seashells on the soft sandy beach."

If I mention the item was accidentally broken, our conversation will lead to why Houston was in the house. Telling them I had the flu will reinforce Dad's relentless insistence we permanently relocate.

My mind's chaotic thoughts have yet to understand the intense feelings of attraction toward Houston. Our sensual lust is undeniable, but underneath his sexy, confident exterior is a compassionate, caring heart. Until I'm clear about whether or not there's potential for a stable relationship, this information is best kept to myself.

"Sure. Let me go and we'll see you this afternoon."

"Bye," we all wave, ending the call.

Rocky plays happily with his toy cars while I clean the dishes and pack an overnight bag. I notice Blade's undershirt on the master bedroom floor, promptly tossing the stinky stained garment into the trash. Our custody agreement states I'm required by law to notify him if I move further than eight hours from the base.

His arrogant rotten attitude could interfere in my plans should I choose to relocate, especially out of the country. The divorce documentation folder is still in my luggage. Dad can help me read through the terms and conditions to ensure I don't jeopardize our legal arrangement. Rocky is my life. I wouldn't survive without him in my arms every single day.

The small suitcase loads into my car's trunk, and Rocky's buckled into the car seat. Houston walks out of Mrs. Clemmons's house, and I wave him over to let him know we'll be gone for two days.

"Hi," he smiles brightly, warm protective energy washing through me.

My arms immediately wrap around his waist, basking in his caring presence.

"We're going to visit my parents in Mexico. I'll be back the day after tomorrow."

I shouldn't lead him on, but I can't resist lifting my chin for a kiss, our hot lips melting into a searing smooch.

"Are you feeling better?" he asks, breaking reluctantly away.

"Yes, thanks for taking care of me yesterday. I need a few days with my parents to clear my head."

A blanket of safety engulfs me tightly before we part. Houston's emotional cool control is admirable.
